Pianist Job Specification
Position: Pianist
Contract: Part-time, 2 hours per week (Term time)
Rate of Pay: £45 per hour (choir rehearsals and recruitment workshops)
Hours: Choir sessions are 1.5 hours in length, but we require the pianist to be present 15 minutes before the first session, and for 15 minutes afterwards.
Location: Westlands Entertainment Venue, Yeovil, BA20 2DD
Start Date: Wednesday 10 January 2024
About the Role:
Armonico Consort in partnership with The Octagon Theatre & Westlands Entertainment Venue are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic pianist to work alongside our choir leader to deliver two new children’s choirs for 8-11 year olds and 12-16 year olds (initially launching with a Key Stage 2 choir), which will run at Westlands Entertainment Venue as part of the Octagon Academy participation programme. We would hope that the right pianist would be able to sub for the choir leader should they be running late or ill.
These choirs will be delivered in partnership with Armonico Consort and the choirs are able to take part in Armonico Consort’s exciting programme of events – including a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in June 2024 alongside 2,000 other children!
Armonico Consort is a critically acclaimed choir and instrumental ensemble which entertains audiences across the country with its high-quality concerts, outstanding recordings, and innovative projects.
The right candidate will have proven capabilities and excellent communication skills that will inspire and encourage our young singers. We will be running some recruitment workshops ahead of the launch on Wednesday 10 January 2024. We are aiming for both our children’s and young persons’ choirs to have a membership of 50 singers by December 2024.
