Arts Award inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents; it is creative, valuable and accessible. Advisers from Jackdaws Music Education Trust, an Arts Award Champion Centre, demonstrate how Arts Award can provide your SEND students with a valuable OfQual Registered Level 1 Qualification in the Arts, giving focus and structure to your arts curriculum with minimal additional planning.
In the 2018-19 academic year, Arts Award advisors Saffron van Zwanenberg and Joshua Bishop from Jackdaws Music Education Trust worked with Jane Haines at Critchill SEND School in Frome to facilitate nine of their Post-16 students in taking their Bronze Arts Award. With a few small adaptations to their existing curriculum, all work required to create each student’s Arts Award portfolio was created during normal school lessons, using their existing framework. Also discussed will be the Discover Arts Award which 50 SEN students passed last year as part of their participation in one of our projects, Song Story.
