Good News from Our Partners!

SPAEDA - Raising Funds for Vulnerable Learners

Congratulations to our arts education partner SPAEDA on being accepted for match funding, supported by the Big Give. All funds raised will go towards supporting and empowering vulnerable learners through our project: HeARTspace.

HeARTspace provides a safe creative space where children and young people can find support from trusted adults and develop peer relationships in a time of crisis and trauma, through the making of art. All funds raised through the Big Give will go towards providing HeARTspace for children and Young People in Somerset.

The project supports their charitable aims to:
  • raise aspirations and create more opportunities for children and young people to get involved in high quality arts activities.
  • provide support for the arts and education sector.
  • advocate for best practice in arts education, placing arts and creativity central to children and young people’s development.
You can learn more about this project and discover ways to support children and young people in need by following their website and social media for updates.

If you have any questions, would like to help fundraise or would like to donate yourself, don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing: info@spaeda.org.uk!

SPAEDA's Years of Impact

In addition to managing our website, bulletin and social media, SPAEDA has promoted work of the hub for over a decade and played an important role in advocating for music and a creative education: signposting creative careers to thousands of young people; providing funding and resources for schools to develop arts and music provision and shaping the familiar Sound Foundation Somerset brand you recognise today.

The hub looks forward to continued partnership as we work together to bring high quality arts and music opportunities to children and young people.

We wish them luck and hope you will support them.

Early Years Music Projects - Take Art

Well, this year has started at full throttle! The Take Art early years team have been busy running training sessions, launching music projects and planning an early years creativity conference just for you ….

On 15 January the staff from Draycott & Rodney Stoke Church of England First School shared their experience of, and learning from, hosting a SoundWaves Network Early Years Music project. It was wonderful to hear their story, understand how it impacted on their music provision and how they plan to continue sharing music in their school. A huge thank you to all of them for embracing this project with such open minds and great enthusiasm.

We have also launched four new music projects since term started. More early years music practitioners are working in collaboration with setting staff and children to develop high quality early years music practice. This time we are over the county boundary with two nurseries in Dorset and two school reception classes in Bournemouth and Poole are receiving 10 session each.

Do keep an eye out on our website or join our mailing list to hear about future CPD opportunities

We wish you all a super Spring Term and hope to see you along the way.
