South West Voices
The County Youth Choir and Cheddar Valley Voices were both delighted and excited to be involved in a new project this term – South West Voices. Working on traditional folk songs from Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, singing Lads from each county joined voices to sing at the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival. After an afternoon’s rehearsal (the first time they all experienced singing together en masse) they entertained the audience in the newly refurbished Hall for Cornwall – becoming the first Youth Group to perform there since it re-opened.
It was a fantastic opportunity for all, and one which County Youth Choir leaders hope to repeat as a regular project. Somerset County Youth Choir is always keen to welcome all young singers to their rehearsals and hope that news of this exciting venture might inspire more singers for the future.
If you know of any young person aged between 8-18 who might benefit from being part of the County Youth Choir please contact Sarah Alsop SAlsop@somerset.gov or see their website for further details.
