Seaton Carnival Busking Competition

Contact: Jon Croose: jfc208@exeter.ac.uk

Calling on acoustic musicians of all ages and styles: Why not step up for a chance to win cash prizes in Seaton Carnival’s third annual busking competition on August 30th, 2014.

The competition is part of the annual Carnival Week celebrations in the town and helps raise money for local charities. Prizes in a range of categories, including Best Band, Best Individual, and Best Junior, plus a Spirit of Carnival prize for the musician who collects the most money for charity and puts most effort into their performance. Money donated to participating buskers by the public will go to local good causes.

The competition judges will be looking for musical ability, passion, entertainment value and audience interaction. The town will be packed for the carnival procession later in the day and this is a real chance for local musicians to show off their skill, personality and performance ability and to help local charities in the process. We welcome all musical styles and instruments. The competition is open to non-amplified singers and musicians only and each performer will be asked to play for 15 minutes, during which time they will be judged.

Anyone who wants to enter the busking competition should contact me by e-mail at jfc208@exeter.ac.uk. Junior Entrants under16 and have their parents’ consent. All performers must register in advance and pay a registration fee of £2.
