Afriquoi in Somerset

22nd – 28th April 2017

Afriquoi are a London based Electronic African Dance Music group and Actiontrack are bringing them to Somerset for a week of activity.

During the week of the 24th – 28th April Actiontrack Performance Company and Afriquoi will be touring around schools in South Somerset, teaching students about African musical instruments and traditions. The band will spend half the week based at King Arthur’s Community School in Wincanton, and half the week at Ansford School in Castle Cary, as well as making the workshops available to feeder primary schools in the area. The participants will access the opportunity to learn from professional, internationally touring musicians that have graced the stages at such festivals as; WOMAD, Eden Festival, Boomtown and Shambala. The students will have a go at playing traditional African instruments including djembes, the kora and learning African vocal techniques.

To celebrate the week, Actiontrack will be hosting a public performance  at Caryford Community Hall in Castle Cary on the 28th April. Tickets are on sale now, including an Early Bird offer which expires on the 28th February. So get yours now! It will be a night of great music so get ready to dance. Head to Eventbrite.com and search Actiontrack presents Afriquoi to purchase yours.
